Creating a Non-publishing Topic Template
As you develop your content in Author-it, you may discover that you know the title of the topic that you will need, but you're not ready to write the content. Or you may have a topic that is finished, but needs to be approved.
For cases like these, use a non-publishing topic template so that you can have a placeholder in the book that only you (and your team) know about. (This concept is similar to using "Comment" styles. However, by using a non-publishing topic template, you can format the preliminary content correctly.)
To create a non-publishing topic template:
- Select the Restricted > Templates folder.
- Create a new topic template. Follow the instructions in the Author-it Knowledge Center, if necessary.
- On the General tab, clear the three check boxes under Include Object In...
- Click OK.
Apply your template to those topics that you don't want to publish yet.
