Replacing Objects

As you are working with your Author-it library, you may discover duplicate objects. For example, I once worked on a library where all hyperlinks had been created by creating new objects every time instead of reusing the original. Another time, I had imported a large number of Frame .mif files, and all the graphics that were imported came in as individual objects, even though they were all specified by reference.

In both cases, I used the Replace function to replace one object with another. During the replace operation, all relationships for the old object were modified to use the new object.

  1. Open the object you don't want to use any more.
  2. Select Object > Replace on the main Author-it toolbar.
  3. In the dialog box that is displayed, navigate to the folder where the object
you want to use is stored, and select that object.
  4. Click OK. A confirmation message is displayed.
  5. Click OK.
